MOM: Bugg

Goals: J Atha, Mawston, Bugg

With the wind in their sails the mighty salamanders set out with the vision of five in a row. A speedy and efficient warm up saw an excellent range of rugby skills but more worryingly a near injury off the bat as Breezy decided to take the sport a little too serious by tackling Dawson to the floor… After a little more serious warm up the match had started. With a rapid display of confidence and strength within the first few minutes stokesley took the lead. With what could only be described as a “worldy of a goal” from Jack (or as he described it) the game was looking promising.

Throughout the first half Stokesley maintained this momentum ploughing through anything that Sheffield threw at them. Just 10 minutes later with his unreal ability to spin in circles like no other Ian Mawston decided to give it a go scoring a beautiful well deserved goal (a back post tap in). With that they were 2-0 up. Sheffield attempted to regain composure and start play back up but within just a few minutes Jolyon found himself in a predicament. His Garmin gps had stopped working and he had found himself lost…. A few steps later he was in Sheffield’s defending D. With a show of confidence and a beautifully positioned ball to him Jolyon stayed composed executing what some may call the greatest goal (back post scrounging) in history. 3-0, half time surely the only way this can go is up. The second half begins promising with Josh Alexander finding his way deep into sheffields half but with 32 minutes left of the game An unexpected turn was taken. Time wasting in the corner.

The crowd looked in awe as Josh produced some of the greatest hockey skills seen in the fortress….until he lost the ball two seconds later and Sheffield counter attacked and scored. 3-1. Later that half saw a feet of hope as Dawson Clarke had his moment Snatching the ball from the Sheffield centre back and a 1v1 with the keeper was formed. To everyone’s surprise the score remained 3-1 and 9 votes had been swayed in the way of DOD. The rest of the game saw Stokesley slowly begin to lose focus as Sheffield brought the score to 3-2. It was not looking good.

Later on saw Sheffield make their way into Stokesley D once again, but thanks to the amazing skills of Jack Atha and his decision to not use a hockey stick sheffields forward was two footed and the ball was cleared with such precision that even Phil molyneux was impressed enough to not give the foul…. Later saw Sheffield pull it back to 3-3 with a last minute goal. But it looked good for stokesley.

The last few seconds of the game saw a determination light in the team, with a full fledged attack towards sheffields keeper something was bound to happen…. That was until phil decided he wanted his post match curry and blew the final whistle.

The game ended 3-3 with Stokesley still undefeated so far.
