MOM: Phil Rose
Goals: Alexander, J Atha, Breeze, Rose
After a strong bounce back win last weekend the boys in yellow faced off against local rivals Marton Furness. After rumours that Gareth Southgate had taken their training, we knew that getting through their 7 at the back would be a tough ask.
However, straight away JJs world famous press forced two high turnovers and lead to two well taken goals from Jack and Josh. After a scrappy next 20 minutes their umpire decided that a foul in the D is in fact a short corner and top scorer Matthew Breeze slotted in another one for 3-0.
Serial goal scorer Phil Rose doubled his goal tally for the season, but his real man of the match contribution came in his own D where he connected with not one but two perfect Joe Root esque straight drives. Breezey then roofed one on his reverse from a short corner miss trap but uncle Kev and broken rib Bobby decided to spoil the fun and rule it out.
Dawson was clearly inspired by his skippers sudden improvement in form with his new stick and brought his shiny new purchase along, but the only thing it connected with was the Marton defenders body when he got the ball completely free at the top of the D, maybe next time?
After Trig had next to nothing do all game, the umpires allowed Marton to score a consolation goal to make it 4-1.
There are only three certain things in life death, taxes, and cards for dissent. The youngest member of the holy trinity of Dhruv, Matty and Josh, despite the advice of the whole team, couldn’t last the whole 70 mins without complaining to the umpires and duly picked up a hefty fine and DOD for his card.
A strong end to 2024 will mean that unlike Arsenal, Stokesley 1s will still be in a title race.
Next game: Wakefield M2 - HOME (Saturday 23rd November 2024, 12:00 push back)
